ASMPDC presents

Steve Uzzell
The Sun, The Moon, and The Weather

Tuesday, March 13, 2007
Every photographer knows the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. Right? What else do you need to know?! Well. exactly where in the east? And where in the west? And when? And then where does it go? When will it be where you need it to be? What can you do with knowledge? Does the moon act the same way? Are you sure? And Mark Twain said, "Everyone talks about the weather, but nobody does anything about it." Is that really true? 35 years of lessons from the field are distilled in this presentation, and we'll explore all these questions and much, much more.

Following active duty in the military and the University of Missouri Journalism school, Steve Uzzell began his photography career as the assistant to the editor of National Geographic magazine and later became a member of their photographic staff. In 1975 he decided to go off on his own, working for a great variety of clients who have sent him to all 50 states and 21 countries on assignment. Achieving international acclaim and receiving numerous honors, including ten awards from Communication Arts magazine, Steve has also had two books of his work published, Maryland and The View From Sterling Bluff. Today, along with his assignment work, Steve is highly sought after as a speaker with his inspirational lecture, Open Roads, Open Minds: An Exploration of Creative Problem Solving.
